Hey did you know that there’s going to be Lego Store at the Oakridge Mall? It’s going to be located by the kid’s play area right near the Safeway.
Note: The soft opening is scheduled to be tomorrow Friday, April 13th, 2012 (maybe not the best date if one is superstitious). So what’s a soft opening? It’s where the store and staff get to work out any issues and get everything up to speed for the official Grand Opening May 4th to 6th, 2012. Although it will most likely be busy for the soft opening, it won’t compare to the Grand Opening which usually has really long line ups just to get into the store. But don’t let that dissuade you from being a part of it all.
So what happens at a Lego Brand Retail Store Grand Opening? Traditionally a Lego Master Builder will come and build a huge Lego sculpture but that that’s still under wraps as to which model. Kids will get to help build a part of it and get a Certificate of Achievement for helping.
The giveaways for the first three days are likely to be as follows. However this information is not direct from Lego, so it may be incorrect or change.
Friday May 4th: Lego Minifigure T-shirt
Saturday May 5th: Lego Brand Store mini-model
Sunday May 6th: Vancouver Store Exclusive minifigs
Each will be available free with a $35 or more purchase. Quantities will be limited and for that weekend only
For those of you adults out there that are still in love with the brick or have been reacquainted with this beloved childhood toy, did you know that there’s a Vancouver Lego Club? It’s a gathering of “kid at heart” minded people who build for fun and hopefully to inspire others with their creations. Check out their website at www.vlc.ca and look out for their upcoming Lego displays in the Lower Mainland. Follow them on Twitter @VanLegoClub or Like them on FaceBook.
